PRAYING

FHA was formed by prayers. Even today, all our ministry projects are visions that came to fruition through prayers. Most importantly, these projects are sustained by your fervent prayers.

We trust that “Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.”  (Psalm 127:1).

We cordially invite you to be a prayer warrior of FHA. We will post our latest prayer needs on our website, so be sure to check back regularly for updates.

Giving

FHA is a non-profit organization aimed to relieve the needy from poverty, and we count on your support to sustain our work.

Proverbs 19:17 says, “He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will reward him for what he has done.” We strongly believe that our God is faithful to His promises.

Searching The One Among Thousands

The search for “the one” is not just reserved for lovers.

Since Fountainhead started ministering in China, we have hit the ground running. We seek to extend the scope and longevity of our ministry in each of the five geographical areas we serve. The longer we minister in one area, the deeper our relationship becomes with the people there, and that relationship compels us to keep going without any notion of quitting. Recently, as our understanding of each area has deepened, we have become aware of rapidly increasing needs that demand our attention. However, it is virtually impossible for us to address the profuse amount of needs all on our own. How can we not be anxious about all these lost opportunities? The more people we come into contact with, the more frequently we hear: “Can you please help us?” “Can you stay longer?” “Can you send more helpers? “We are weak and alone. Will more workers come?” These types of requests are incessant. But where are the laborers?

Why are there insufficient laborers? Aren’t there plenty of people who are interested in China? Over the past years, many have considered participating in our ministry; yet those who have responded are few and far between. Many envision themselves in ministry, yet few take action; many solicit information, yet few commit long term. The result is many people who attempt to do the work, but few who are truly a good fit. What we look for in a worker is simple: humility, diligence and passionate.

If one adopts a superior attitude when serving in China, one may end up looking down on what one sees—“It’s too backward here!” Usually that judgment is due to cultural differences. Of course, each society has room for improvement, but cultural practices and ways of life are not to be judged good or bad, wise or foolish. China is a massive country, with more than 50 different ethnic groups dispersed among provinces, cities, towns, villages and rural areas; in the mountains and along the coast, on the plains and in the desert, in agricultural areas and urban areas. The culture is diverse and multifaceted. If we do not get rid of our biases and discrimination, learn to work humbly and appreciate different cultural practices, how can we enjoy our time ministering in this vast land?

We need to be wary of carelessness, frivolousness and a shallow level of commitment that quickly fizzles. Our service teams are not there to be tourists, to enjoy exotic food and hit the scenic spots. In order to minister effectively, they need to focus on the people. Each worker needs to be a diligent learner, be able to express oneself fluently in the language, have a deep understanding of the culture, listen intently and discern accurately. Only then will one be able to serve effectively and feel “at home” in each area of ministry.

We have a dilemma: While deeply desiring more laborers to join us, we would rather choose “quality” over “quantity” when it comes to finding suitable workers. Therefore, we pray to the Lord of the harvest: “May You prepare laborers for us—humble, diligent and passionate individuals who can become part of our team.”

If you are the one among thousands, please hear and respond to the call!
