Birth of the Small Caterpillar

Steven has a professional background in rehabilitation and more than a decade of business experience in the mainland. In different types of rehabilitation work, he found that the “Child Assessment and Training” service is still in the early stages of development in China. Also, parents nowadays are extremely concerned about the growth of their single child as the one-child policy that has been implemented for many years. Therefore, the service demand for accurate assessment and appropriate training are very high.

At the end of 2016, Steven and the president of Fountainhead discussed the possibility of developing this project. In June 2017, he ended all business in Hong Kong. Using a “Train the Trainer” model, he started to train local staff to assess and train children with growth disabilities, including Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)and autism.

However, the initial stage of ministry development is not as easy as imagined. The selection of the Evaluation and Training Center location has encountered many changes. After waiting for a few months, until February of this year, the final local was decide for our first child assessment and training center in China. One day, Steven and his wife sent a message to their three children. They hoped that the young people’s uniqueness and creativity would inspire them to conceive the name of the center. The young people unexpectedly engaged actively. The brainstorming process was fascinating, and the “Little Caterpillar Child Assessment and Training Center” was born.

During this period, Steven began to establish some related personal networks, including special parent seminars and voluntary assessments. We planned the first year as the initial development and promotion stage, and we expect the operation and flow of the center will be smoother after one year.

The road ahead is a brand-new road. Even though there are still many unknowns and difficulties, let us rely on the Lord to face and overcome them, to experience His grace every day, to look to God’s supply, and to have more dedicated teachers, social workers, nurses, and therapists joining us.
